Mayor’s speech
Distinguished Conference Participants,
Welcome to Jerusalem!
In recent years, the city of Jerusalem has become a global center for values-driven, multicultural, and international dialogue on education.
This development is the result of a clear policy that places education at the very top of the city’s agenda, positioning Jerusalem not only as the capital of Israel, but also as Israel’s capital of education.
Jerusalem’s education system is one of the city’s greatest sources of pride. We view education as a central force for impact, and one that constantly strives for renewal and continuous improvement, especially in light of the unique human diversity with which our city has been blessed. Indeed, Jerusalem offers its hundreds of thousands of students high-quality education that enables every child to realize their fullest potential, each in their own way and at their own pace.
The fruits of this work are clearly evident. Jerusalem’s youth, the city’s future generation, stand out for their engagement, maturity, and willingness to contribute to the common good, and they are a source of great pride and satisfaction for us all.
The importance of the International Education Conference, which marks the beginning of a meaningful annual tradition, lies in its ability to foster open dialogue on the future of education, its challenges, and its possibilities, in Israel and around the world. It is a dialogue that brings together values, culture, identity, and innovation.
I wish us all an enriching and productive conference, one that will serve as a springboard for collaboration, mutual learning, and shared growth.
Sincerely,
Moshe Lion
Mayor of Jerusalem
